Quit Smoking Hypnosis
Seminar
Is attending a quit smoking hypnosis seminar
a good idea? Do they work?
Well, my opinion is that anything that is
safe, legal and has a reasonable chance of helping you stop
smoking is worth a try.
A hypnosis seminar certainly meets those
criteria.
To begin with it’s safe. As I discuss
on other pages, hypnosis is overall an extremely safe process
with essentially no side effects.
More to the point, it’s effective. It
certainly doesn’t work for everyone, and probably doesn’t work
as well as the promoters of the events say, but I’ve seen
independent reports that say a one-session seminar can have a
30% or so success rate in helping people give up smoking.
To me, that sounds like pretty good odds for
something as safe and comfortable as there seminars.
Requirements
The main requirement for attending a seminar
is a desire to quit smoking. If someone attends a seminar
because their spouse made them or they are forced to for some
other reason the chance that they will stop smoking because of
the seminar is small.
Hypnosis really can’t induce someone to do
something that they are strongly opposed to. Its main
influence is that it aligns the person’s subconscious belief
and associations with their conscious desires.
The other main requirement is that anyone
who is being treated for psychological problems should check
with their doctor or therapist before attending an hypnosis
seminar.
What to Expect
Although every seminar hypnotist has their
own style, you will probably be surprised at how low key most
presenters are. Generally, you won’t be asked to do
anything ore dramatic than close your eyes, and often you won’t
even be asked to do that.
Some therapists work simply by telling a
story with a hypnotic under story.
In any case, the seminars are pleasant, fun
events. Some believe that being in group aids the
effectiveness for many people.
Follow Up
Some people leave a seminar and never touch
another cigarette again. Unfortunately that’s not the
case for many people. However the results can be greatly
inhanced with a little post seminar effort.
Most therapists will give attendees some
suggestions or triggers they can use to help reinforce the
progress they made at the seminar. Be sure to follow the
recommendations they give you for the best result.
Of course you can use a stop smoking seminar
to reinforce a self hypnosis stop smoking program, or you can
begin a self hypnosis program to help maintain the progress you
start with a seminar.
You can find some good hypnosis CDs,
including ones to help you stop smoking and to reinforce the
effects of a quit smoking seminar at:
A good thing about that site is they usually
have special sales and you can get an excellent price on a
hypnosis recording.
Of course, taking a more general hypnosis
training is always a good idea. One I like a lot is

Not only will the methods you learn in this course help you stop
smoking, you can expand your influence on those around you
tremendously.
